Health Care;Hospital;Medical@McLean Hospital was founded on Feb. 25, 1811, through a charter granted by the Massachusetts Legislature for the “Massachusetts General Hospital Corporation. From its inception, the Corporation intended to treat both physical and mental illnesses, with a separate facility for each. Fundraising campaigns were held between 1812 and 1816, and a majority of the contributors earmarked their donations for the establishment of a facility to treat mental illnesses. McLean Hospital is dedicated to improving the lives of people and families affected by psychiatric illness. McLean Hospital is a comprehensive mental health care facility committed to providing a full range of high quality, cost effective, mental health services. At McLean Hospital, their staff, faculty, volunteers and supporters are dedicated to improving the lives of people and families affected by psychiatric illness. As the largest psychiatric affiliate of Harvard Medical School, McLean has been meeting the needs of individuals and families with psychiatric illness since their founding in 1811. McLean Hospital's staff of more than 1,900 caring and compassionate individuals are each dedicated to improving the lives of people living with mental illness and their families. McLean Hospital is an affiliate of Harvard Medical School and a member of Partners Healthcare. McLean Hospital is the largest psychiatric teaching facility of Harvard Medical School.
